Catterick Town Centre

Project Location: Shute Road, Catterick Garrison

Project Overview: With £19 million awarded by the Levelling Up Fund, the project will deliver a series of public realm improvements to Catterick town centre. These will include upgraded footpaths and cycleways, partial pedestrianisation of Shute Road and soft landscaping with new tree planting. Coronation Park will also be revitalised, featuring a space for outdoor events, public art, improved play areas and a sensory garden. In addition to this, there will be a new Community and Enterprise building at the heart of the improvements. The multi-use space will offer offices for startups and small businesses, food and retail concessions and a flexible indoor space for socialising and events.

Whitby Old Town Hall

Project Location: Whitby Market Place

Project Overview: Refurbishment of the Grade II* Listed Old Town Hall building and Market Place off Church Street Whitby.  The project aims to repair and restore the Grade II* listed building and its surrounding marketplace, safeguarding its structural integrity and improving the appearance of this unique heritage asset for the town. The available floor space in both the first floor and undercroft will be repurposed to provide year-round community and cultural activities, alongside existing market usage. To strengthen the connection between the building and the marketplace, a set of steps will be introduced from the undercroft, alongside the replacement of existing paving with cobbled stones, and the installation of anchor points for market stalls. The work aims to build on the history and heritage of the building, restore the building through refurbishment and repurposing for community use, and create a vibrant and bustling year-round marketplace.

Scarborough Station Gateway

Project Location: Scarborough

Project Overview: Enhancements to the public realm adjacent to the station are being made as part of a wider programme of works to enhance the station gateway point of arrival to the town. The Station Gateway Phase 1A – Public Realm will include new pedestrian crossings, traffic signals, removal of traffic islands and hatchings, and decluttering at the Westborough/ Valley Bridge Road junction. Further enhancements along Valley Bridge Road will feature tree planting and footpath resurfacing. On Westborough Road, improvements will include highway lane narrowing and traffic calming, as well as wider footpaths, table crossings and seating areas.

Scarborough Pride in Place

Project Overview: A ten-year regeneration programme backed by £19.5m endowment-style funding from Government, designed to deliver long-term improvements for Scarborough through a community-led approach. The plan focuses on eight themes: High Streets & Heritage, Housing, Transport, Cohesion, Health & Wellbeing, Education & Opportunity, Safety & Security, and Work & Skills. It aims to create thriving places, stronger communities, and empower local people to shape their town’s future.

Selby Station Gateway

Project Location: Selby rail and bus stations and surrounding area

Project Overview: Transformation of the Selby station gateway area to make improvements for pedestrians, cyclists, and bus station passengers, to create a cycle/pedestrian link through Selby Park, provision of car parking facilities and an upgrade of Selby railway station to improve the sense of arrival.

Selby Abbey Quarter

Project Overview: An ambitious placemaking scheme focused on supporting the town centre economy by improving the streetscape, enhancing outdoor recreation/cultural activity, increasing footfall and providing employment opportunities (especially for those living in areas of deprivation).
