A new North Yorkshire Council Business Advisory Group has officially launched, bringing together businesses from across the county to play an active role in shaping how the Council supports economic growth.
The group, which met for the first time at Harrogate Convention Centre in May, includes representatives from a wide range of sectors and locations. The inaugural session was well attended, with discussions focusing on key issues facing local businesses, including workforce skills and apprenticeships, rising business costs and finance, and supply chain resilience. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive.
Insights gathered during the meeting, alongside responses from a pre-meeting survey, have provided a clear and honest picture of current business conditions across North Yorkshire. This valuable input will help inform the next phase of the Council’s economic and business strategies, with a focus on tackling key challenges, improving the business environment, and supporting business success.
Meeting three times a year, the Advisory Group will bring together up to 50 businesses and act as both a sounding board and a strategic partner for the Council. It will help guide future activity and ensure that policies and decisions reflect the real needs of the North Yorkshire business community.
The group will next meet on 23 September, with further updates to be shared as its priorities and areas of focus continue to develop.
